Homer Simpson drinks Duff; Peter Griffin drinks Pawtucket Patriot Ale. ; Bob & Doug McKenzie drink Elsinore; Antoine Gagnon drinks whatever he finds; Byron Wilkins drinks prune juice and Kurt Sasso doesn’t drink anything (whimp).
But what do The Drunken Fools drink? We saw “Burp”, we saw “Booz”, but it would be great to have our own brand!
This is why I’m launching this super cool contest where YOU get to name that beer!
Rules:
- Find a cool name for a beer
- Needs to be original
- Needs to be “brand-able”
- “Burp” & “Booz” not allowed
- Three names maximum per participant
- Post your names here in the comments
- Webcomic Alliance members not allowed
- Note: Your submission will get bonus points if the name can be easily adapted in French.
Prizes:
- First place winner will get the original sketched artwork of the Beer Logo (on a 8.5″x11″ bristol), a Drunken Fools T-Shirt (M, L or XL) and a copy of the upcoming Drunken Fools book (should be ready around mid-March 2011);
- T-Shirts & Books will be drawn randomly within the other participants.
Timeline:
Participants can submit their names until December 22nd, 2010. Make sure to check the Reply notification before submitting your comment. If you win, that would be the easiest way for me to reach you.
Winner will be decided after the Holidays, 2nd or 3rd week of January. Depending on the amount received, I may use the help of my Webcomic Alliance pals to decide the top 5 and go with a vote.
On your mark, get set, DRINK!!!!!

Here are some picks for names:
Dark Lager: Das ist lecker (“That is yummy” in German)
Canadian Beer: Quebec’s Finest
Generic Beer Name: Saturday Night
Wait. What? I can’t participate? I may resign from the Alliance just to get some Drunken Fools swag!
Okay I won’t but I was soooo ready to add some names!
good times lager (french=bons temps)
black out ale (french=perde conscience)
king’s drool ale (french=El REY babea)
Binger Ale –> apparently there is no french translation for binge drinking but I would say “Une Binger Ale SVP” or short-form it to “Une binge”
Logger Lager –> Nom francais: La buche
Marketing: un drunken bûcheron sur l’étiquette, une bierre forte et robuste. Geared to the working class and roughnecks
Slogan FR: “La Bûche sa bûche” “sa buche en t*barnak”
Slogan EN: “Lumberjacks knock them down”
BigJoeMufferaw (BJM for short, like the MGD) –> BigJoe (Using the short form like how we say “Une Bleue” would make it bilingual “Une BigJoe SVP”)
Slogans and Marketting can be the same as Logger Lager… heck BJM can be the brand and Logger Lager can be the beer!

Help fight late night Wikipedia addiction… give me beer and take me away from my computer!

Before tonight, I only knew the high level… now I’m really amazed at this character…
“Montferrand defended French-Canadian workers against gangs of Irish bullies in the Bytown area known as “Shiners”. In 1829, he is said to have beaten a gang of 100 Shiners on the bridge between Hull, Quebec and Bytown. After 1840, he mainly worked the log drives as foreman and he retired in 1857. In his later years, he suffered from pain in his back and joints.” PS: I personally have nothing against the Irish, I’m 7/8 French and 1/8 Irish myself (good drunk bloodline)
“After drinking a bucket of gin, Joe “beat the living tar out of 29 men and high above the ceiling of the Pembroke pub, there’s 29 boot marks, and they’re signed ‘with love.’” This is a reference to the Pembroke Hotel, a favourite of Stompin’ Tom.”
1. Shitzengiggles = Dunkelweizen
2. Cone head = i.p.a.
3.bock door Betty = Bock
How’s about: 1) Frozen Puck – La Rondelle Glacee?
2) Zut Beer
3) Oopsy Ale
All three names remind me of when I watch my favorite hockey team on the TV.
The Toronto Maple Leafs, right?
What gave the hint? Zut, or Oopsy? They both apply to the Leafs this year (and last year… the year before…)
“Torsch”
Like a Big Torsch, or in French, une Grosse Torsch!
Greetings from Germany!
Here is my offer:
GULP BEER with the slogan “Get a gulp of GULP!”
in french it would be
GLOUP BIERE with the slogan “Gobe une GLOUP!”
Here goes nothing!
1. Glug
2. Smashammer (or Smash Hammer)
3. Mitch’s Brew

I know you probably can’t use it but I’d kick myself if I didn’t mention it:
1) Beetle Barley Beer (that’s right some nice comic strip themed beer)
1. Tomorrow’s Woes
2. I Kissed Who?
3. Sorry, Boss Ale
Ummmm Beer. That wasn’t just me making an appreciative noise that’s actually the name I’m going for. Either that or Scrommy Ale.
1) Napoleon’s last stand
2) Gamma Bomb Ale
3) T.O.B.I.D. (That One Beer I Drink)
Mouffette
Sounds like a beer brand, and it ties back to a character you used
