Sketches: Hands

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Hola Drunken Fools!

Something I’m starting to learn when trying to be an artist, is I need to practice, and spend the time to do it.

So, today, I spentĀ  1 hour and a half sketching hands in order for me to practice ( I should have started doing that a long time ago). I decided to share them with you!

Let me know what you think!

Preview: New character – Sophie

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

Hi there,

A new character will be introduced tomorrow. Her name is Sophie and I don’t know how big her role will be going forward in the strip. Since I don’t know that for sure, I decided to take the time to design her, who knows :D

Here’s a bunch of sketches and the final inking after.

Only question I would have is: does she fit with the style of the strip?

Let me know what you think!

Tuesday Drunken Sketching: Ant-Wan Kenobe

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Happy Tuesday Drunken Fools!

I did posted some sketches in the past but outside a regular schedule, they were usually random blogs.
So, starting today, every Tuesdays will be the Drunken Sketching Day. You can expect to have a sketch, strip related or not, every Tuesday!

Today is an idea that has a little bit of a background history. My friend Kurt, of TGT Webcomics, didn’t know how to pronounce my name in his podcast, he called me Anton, Anthony and any weird attempts. So since the correct way has a pronunciation in french that doesn’t really fits any English phonetics, the best way to pronounce it in English is “Ant-Wan”. When I told that to Kurt, he automatically started to call me Ant-Wan Kenobe, which we all have a good laugh since then.

Yesterday, we were talking and Kurt said to me, you should find a way to introduce Ant-Wan Kenobe to the comic. I did get a few ideas (which I will not reveal :P ) and today’s sketch is my first attempt on what Ant-Wan Kenobe would look like. Kurt as a great way to help me find ideas, remember Billy talking to a blender? That came from a conversation we both had once :P

Cock and Bull Fan Art

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Hi there Drunken Fools!

Two days ago, I was “doodling” while on a conference call at work and I actually liked the result of it. I then decided to re-draw it properly and I inked it on my Tablet PC.

If you read the subject of this post, you guessed it, I drew Cock and Bull from Cock n Bull: The Comic. I’m sure you remember the Drunken Review I made a few weeks ago.

Anyway, Einar, the Cock n Bull’s creator loved it and posted it on his website!! So here it is, I hope you will like it as well! And if you didn’t, you MUST go see Einar’s comic!!!!

Tuesday Drunken Sketch: Perspective Fun

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Good day Drunken Fools!

For this week’s sketch, I posted an overview of the next strip. I tried to work a bit on my perspective skills. I had a hard time… so I went outside and took a picture of my street. I used the picture as a reference for the perspective. You’ll see the inked version on Sunday!.

Besides the electric lines that are out of whack, what do you think?

Tuesday’s Drunken Sketch: 2-Point Perspective

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Hola Drunken Fools!

This week’s Sketch is actually the weekly exercise of that very cool group I’m part of, The Sketch-Out. In this week’s exercise, we had to draw a chair using the 2-points perspective method.

I decided to do this exercise by drawing the perfect chair for the Drunken Fools, a Camping Chair! THIS was an amazing exercise and to be honest I am very proud of the results!

Note, I had the chair right in front of me just for the reference, but it was in a different angle to force me to work on the perspective
As usual, you can click on the pictures for a larger version

Step1: I drew the horizon line and placed the 10 most important points of the chair:
step11024

Step 2: I drew the frame and them the actual cover of the chair:

step2842

Step3: Final sketch with the design of the chair!

That was very fun!

If you are interested, check out The Sketch-Out group, I actually need to create an exercise for the group this Friday!
